How To Make It Through The Day

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23

In this day, it is very easy to be consumed with guilt, worry, and anxiety. Many people live ridden with fear of the future – but take heart! Every single morning when you wake up, God’s mercies are new. It doesn’t matter what you struggled with the previous day; there is nothing that you could have done to separate you from his compassion and love being poured out onto you every time you get out of bed! Every morning God has given you a measure of mercy to make today happen.

Jesus, in his talk on worry in Matthew 6, highlights a very important point- “Do not worry about tomorrow”. This may seem difficult at first, but remember that God holds your future in its entirety, and he only designed us to take one day at a time. That’s the key. Live one day at a time and you can overcome even in your darkest hour. You can handle today, every single day.

Jesus tells us that we will experience trouble in this world, but he also promises peace and provision to you. You can handle everything that comes your way today. Don’t worry about the future,  what ‘could be’, or what ‘could happen’. Don’t create a false future in your mind and allow it to add anxiety to your present. Be present today and trust tomorrow to God. As a matter of fact, God invites us to think that the very best that can happen will happen, because a future with God is a future of all things working together for good.

Whatever is on your mind, whatever you are facing, God is for you. Live in his peace today!
